Jonathan King, farming member of Ridgeway since it started. Family farm West Wilts milling wheat,WOSR, Beans, Beef & flock of Wiltshire Horn sheep. Local NFU group chairman.
Qualified as chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse, London 1984 Partner in mixed farming business of 1500 acres on Marlborough Downs since 1992 with particular specialism in growing malting barley. Director of arable joint venture growing 2500 acres pa.Fully committed to Ridgeway Grain/Crisp Malt at Membury with 2500 to 3000 tonnes being stored pa and member of Membury Malting Barley Growers Group.
Farmer Member, comes from a farming back ground, grew up on a dairy and arable farm just outside Lambourn, Berkshire. Involved with farming and commercial property management over the last twenty years.
Alan is Company Secretary and has provided strategic financial advice for Ridgeway Grain since 2006/7. He also sits on the boards of several other grain co-operatives up and down the country as Finance director or Company Secretary, or provides strategic financial advice or operational accounting services to them depending upon their individual requirements. He previously worked for Sony for 13 years in a number of international roles before joining Centaur Grain in January 2005.
We farm 900 ac at Firs Farm Beckhampton this is a Crown estate tenanted farm. As we have no drying facilities at home 90% of our crop is sent to Ridgeway Growing a rotation of W Wheat W Rape and S Barley and we also have 65 head of fattening cattle.
I am managing director of a 1000 acre family farming business, 680 acres near Marlborough and 320 near Calne. We run a 200 cow commercial dairy herd and grow OSR, Winter Wheat and Spring Barley, totalling around 600 acres across the two farms.
A former Managing Director for many years, I am no longer involved in the day to day running of the business but remain a Director, committed to supporting Ridgeway as it continues to evolve and meet the demands of its current and future markets.
